Celebrate the 55th Birthday of The Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, GA by attending Bug Day 2011 and Groove in the Grove, a free outdoor concert. See giant animatronic insects and a collection of bugs from around the world. Then, make sure to bring your lawn chair and blankets at 6 p.m. to enjoy the music of the Air Force Jazz Band and Full Spectrum. Birthday cake and peach ice cream from Dickey Farms for everyone!
Experiencing Art from the Museum Collection takes the visitor on a journey that explores features of the Museum’s permanent collection acquired over 55 years and reveals a focus on art by Southern painters, ceramics of the Georgia folk pottery and contemporary traditions, and gifts to the Museum by regional collectors.

This popular annual family day will definitely get under your skin! Some of our favorite insect enthusiasts are back for BUG DAY 2011, including Dr. Jeff Burne, The UGA Entomology Department and Junior Entomologist David Shoemaker. And yes, the Fear Factor Feast table will be serving up tasty treats like chocolate-covered crickets and mealworm pesto – yum!
Groove in the Grove Concert

You’re invited to the Museum’s 55th Birthday Party! The Groove in the Grove features a FREE live show by the Air Force Jazz Band “Full Spectrum.” Bring the family and spread a blanket out under the trees in the Museum’s beautiful pecan orchard. Enjoy some birthday cake and free peach ice cream from Dickey Farms!
